Paeroa To Thames Fun Run/Walk.

A fun 30km run/walk that can be done as a team relay or individually. Starting in Paeroa and ending in Thames. All proceeds to the Thames High School Athletics Squad

About The Event


RACE DATE: 13th of September

RACE START: Each entrant/team to start at their official start time as advertised prior to race day. Starting location is Taylor Ave Paeroa at the entrance of the rail trail

RACE DISTANCE: 30.04km on Hauraki Rail Trial

REGISTRATION/RACE NUMBERS: Runner/walkers must wear their race bibs on their chest so they are clearly visible.

Relay teams will be given a set of numbers for their teams so crossover not required.

RELAY TEAMS/DISTANCES: Relay teams can consist of a minimum of 2 up to a maximum of 8 runners/walkers in the following categories – Open (men/mixed), Women Only, Family, Business House, Secondary School and Primary School( max 10 runners). When registering please note your category

Primary School relay teams must have a minimum of 5 runners and Secondary School a minimum of 4 runners.

There are 13 legs to the race between public road crossings – see map. Teams can choose where they want to swap runners over but it must be on the public road crossings excluding Kaimanawa, Corbett, Townsend and Kirikiri West Roads. You are responsible for the safe transportation of your relay team members to and from the crossings

START TIMES: Please read carefully as these have changed

Auckland Runners 8am, Auckland Walkers 8.10am. Other walkers 8.30am Other runners 9.30am

You will be advised of your start time upon receipt of registration. 


Relay teams this will need to be managed within your teams. Individuals - we have a shuttle running at 7am x 2 (for the Auckland participants) Pick up will be at the finish line in Thames at Rhodes Park and dropoff at the start. This way you can leave your cars at the finish. Estimated cost $10 max per person. Please indicate if you require transport when signing up



Race packs/numbers will be available from the Fitness Co-op the evening before, or pick up from start Please allow plenty of time before your race start.


There will be race briefing 5 mins before each start time.


Roads are open so give way to traffic at all road crossings, obey marshals’ instructions they are there for your safety. Not all crossovers with have marshalls but please check the road before crossing over to the other side and back onto the rail trail


As this is a designated Bike Trail runners/walkers must give way to bikes.

Keep to the left of trail. Share with care.


There will be water provided at Hikutaia, Puriri and Kopu. There will also be toilets at Hikutaia and Kopu transition points.


Each entrant and relay team will have an official time recorded at the finish. This will be via stopwatch and based off your numbers


Please make sure you take all your rubbish home with you, be a tidy kiwi

Due to the current economic climate we are not planning on spot prizes or goodies for the race packs this year


This event will not be cancelled unless in case of extreme weather which would pose a risk to competitiors safety. Cancellations would be made by 6pm on the the day prior broadcast on Coromandels More FM 97.2FM and on web



Early Bird Entries close 30th of July. Late entries will be accepted upon payment of the late entry fee, up to noon on Friday the 11th. Entry acknowledgement and start time will be advised upon receipt of entry.

In the event of any ‘Act of God’ conditions causing a cancellation of the event, my/our total entry fee is non-refundable. Neither the organisers nor other parties associated with the event shall have any responsibility for any liability, financial or otherwise, which might arise whether or not by negligence, from any direct or indirect loss, injury or death which might be sustained by me/us or any other party directly or indirectly associated with me/us, from my/our intended or actual participation in the event and its related activities.

I/we authorise my/our name, voice or picture can be used without any payment in any broadcast, advertising, promotion in relation to this event.

This is an all inclusive, all abilities, all ages event to raise funds for the Thames High School Athletics Squad, attending the National Athletics meet at the end of the year.
