About The Event

RACE DATE: SUNDAY 25th of November

RACE START: Each entrant/team to start at their official start time as advertised prior to race day

RACE DISTANCE: 30.04km on Hauraki Rail Trial

REGISTRATION/RACE NUMBERS: Runner/walkers must wear their race bibs on their chest so they are clearly visible.

Relay teams will be given a set of numbers for their teams so crossover not required.

RELAY TEAMS/DISTANCES: Relay teams can consist of a minimum of 2 up to a maximum of 8 runners/walkers in the following categories – Open (men/mixed), Women Only, Family, Business House, Secondary School and Primary School( max 10 runners). When registering please note your category

Primary School relay teams must have a minimum of 5 runners and Secondary School a minimum of 4 runners.

There are 13 legs to the race between public road crossings – see map. Teams can choose where they want to swap runners over but it must be on the public road crossings excluding Kaimanawa, Corbett, Townsend and Kirikiri West Roads. You are responsible for the safe transportation of your relay team members to and from the crossings

START TIMES:

You will be advised of your start time upon receipt of registration. The start time you are in will be based on your estimated time to complete the course as given in the registration form.

8:00am First runners/walkers 10:00am Second runners /walkers

TRANSPORT:

Relay teams this will need to be managed within your teams. Individuals - we have a shuttle running at 7am and 9am (dependent on numbers) Pick up will be at the finish line in Thames at Rhodes Park and dropoff at the start. This way you can leave your cars at the finish. Estimated cost $10 max per person. Please indicate if you require transport when signing up.

RACE NUMBERS:

Race packs/numbers will be available from the Fitness Co-op from 4 – 6pm on Saturday 24th November, or pick up from start on 25th of November. Please allow plenty of time before your race start.

RACE BRIEFING:

There will be race briefing 5 mins before each start time.

SAFETY:

Roads are open so give way to traffic at all road crossings, obey marshals’ instructions they are there for your safety. Not all crossovers with have marshalls but please check the road before crossing over to the other side and back onto the rail trail

USE OF HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL

As this is a designated Bike Trail runners/walkers must give way to bikes.

Keep to the left of trail. Share with care.

DRINK STATIONS

There will be water provided at Hikutaia, Puriri and Kopu. There will also be toilets at these transition points.

TIME/RESULTS:

Each entrant and relay team will have an official time recorded at the finish. This will be via stopwatch and based off your numbers

PRIZEGIVING:

3 pm The Fitness Co-Op, Rhodes Park.

Spot prizes drawn at prizegiving, you must be present to receive your prize otherwise redraw.

CANCELLATIONS:

This event will not be cancelled unless in case of extreme weather which would pose a risk to competitiors safety. Cancellations would be made by 6pm on the 24th of November broadcast on Coromandels More FM 97.2FM and on website and on Facebook page

CLOSING DATE:

Early Bird Entries close 25th of October. Late entries will be accepted upon payment of the late entry fee, up to noon on Saturday 24th of November. Entry acknowledgement and start time will be advised upon receipt of entry.

NO REFUNDS AFTER 25th of October. NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED ON RACE DAY.

Terms and Conditions

In the event of any ‘Act of God’ conditions causing a cancellation of the event, my/our total entry fee is non-refundable. Neither the organisers nor other parties associated with the event shall have any responsibility for any liability, financial or otherwise, which might arise whether or not by negligence, from any direct or indirect loss, injury or death which might be sustained by me/us or any other party directly or indirectly associated with me/us, from my/our intended or actual participation in the event and its related activities.

I/we authorise my/our name, voice or picture can be used without any payment in any broadcast, advertising, promotion in relation to this event.

This is an all inclusive, all abilities, all ages event to raise awareness and funds for Reid Lovett, a 3 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy. His CP affects his legs causing very tight muscles and therefore his ability to walk normally. Currently Reid can not walk unassisted and has a huge amount of therapy to help maintain and strengthen his muscles. There is limited funding for this therapy so the family has to cover the cost of most of Reid's therapies. Reid's parents Emma and Steven are trying to raise $150k+ to take Reid the USA to St Louis Childrens Hospital for SDR surgery that will assist with removing the tightness in the muscles in his legs permanently and give him a better chance at normal movement in his life.

We have decided to hold this event for 3 Reasons

To raise awareness for people with Cerebral Palsy

To create an all abilities fun event for everyone to enjoy

And to assist the Lovett family with much needed funds to help with their journey.

The more people who participate the bigger the impact in a financial, social and awareness way
